The biggest tournament for this chapter of Fortnite is here, this is what you need to know.

The Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 competitive season is now underway as we’ve moved out of the preseason. There are Cash Cups, Hype Cups, and more but the FNCS Chapter 3 Season 3 is the main event. This is the biggest and most important competitive Fortnite tournament for the season, and it’s about to start off.

The FNCS is the conclusion of the season’s events, where the top players compete. However, it’s also a longer tournament. It runs for the better half of the season, dominating pro-Fortnite across two months. This season’s FNCS is going to be running through mid-August, close to the end of the season itself.

The current season of Fortnite is still receiving big updates. It’s only just had a Mythic added along with new POIs added into the game. The competitive side of the game is in a weird state at the moment too, with a lot of mobility currently vaulted. These are going to make for an interesting balance of power in the next FNCS. Although, there’s plenty of criticism right now, it’s not uncommon for top players to be unhappy with updates! The season has some problems, but it looks like a fun set-up for high-level play.

This is how the FNCS is going to work, how to watch the FNCS Chapter 3 Season 3, and what to expect at the event.

FNCS Season 3 Chapter 3

The FNCS is the end-of-season event for Fortnite, it’s going to be running from the beginning of July. This tournament features one of the biggest prize pools in Fortnite, with the top players competing. Alongside the prize and bragging rights, winners will also likely be earning an invitation to the upcoming FNCS Invitational, so there’s a lot at stake.

FNCS Season 3 Chapter 3 Format

The FNCS Season 3 Chapter 3 is running over the course of July and August. The tournament is broken up into qualifiers, a semi-final, and eventually a final. This is another Duos format tournament. In each stage of the tournament, players compete in closed lobbies. Only others in the tournament are active, meaning in every game there are plenty of opportunities for teams to come away with little to no points!

In each stage, players compete to earn points through eliminations and placement. The top teams on the leaderboard will move through to the next round or get a share of the prize pool in the finals. Victory Royales gives the most points, but finishing as low as 35th still gives a small consolation prize! The exact point numbers are different depending on the stage of the event, but they’re all the same increments.

In each round of the qualifiers, the top teams move directly to the Finals. The other highly placing teams get a spot at the Semis. Here, the top teams in every region compete to fill up the final lobby.

Outside of placing highly, there’s also a different route to victory in the finals. If a team can get 475 points and three victory royals, they automatically win. This is more of a mercy rule in case of complete dominance, though, it isn’t the normal route to the champion title in the game.

FNCS Chapter 3 Season 3 Schedule

The FNCS Chapter 3 Season 3 tournament takes place over more than a month. Between all the regions and these dates, it can be tricky to stay on top of which tournament is happening when. Things aren’t even being on a weekly basis this time around. These are all the key dates when you can tune in and see the FNCS action:

Outside official streams, individual players competing will often be streaming their own version of events. These streams show their point of view and often their thoughts on how it's progressing. While there are way too many players having a crack at the tournament to list here. If you have a favorite streamer or player, though, you can just jump into their stream to see how the tournament is going for them.

Prize Pool

The FNCS prize pool is always one of the biggest in esports, regularly topping millions in total. With quite a few different regions, though, it is a bit more spread out than in some tournaments. This is how the prize pool breaks down:

  • EU – $1,350,000
  • NAE – $690,000
  • NAW – $240,000
  • BR – $240,000
  • Asia – $240,000
  • ME – $120,000
  • OCE – $120,000

Some of these prize pools are a lot larger, but it mainly comes down to viewing numbers and popularity. The game has a lot more players and viewers in Europe than in the Middle East, so the prize pool is quite a bit higher there for the FNCS Chapter 3 Season 3.
